A popular, hardy, fast-growing soft coral prized in saltwater reef aquariums for their vibrant, distinct coloration.
Appearance & Identification
- Skirt: Dark purple or plum skirt.
- Ring / Face: A neon green face or inner ring surrounded by a signature bright orange ring.
- Center: Purple center.
- Size: Small to medium-sized polyps (some hobbyists note they run slightly smaller than average zoas like orange oxides).
Care & Husbandry Guidelines
- Care Level: Beginner-friendly and hardy.
- Lighting: Low to moderate lighting (approx. 50–150+ PAR, or up to 250 PAR depending on acclimation). Too much light can cause them to bleach or shrink.
- Water Flow: Moderate, consistent water flow to prevent detritus from settling on the mat.
- Placement: Bottom to mid-level rockwork or sand bed. Leave 2–3 inches of spacing from neighbors as they spread via budding.
- Growth Rate: Fast-growing under stable conditions, forming colorful carpets over time.
