Hammer corals (Fimbriaphyllia ancora and Fimbriaphyllia paraancora, formerly Euphyllia) are popular large polyp stony (LPS) marine aquarium corals recognized by their distinct hammer- or anchor-shaped tentacle tips.
Overview & Types
Branching Hammers (Fimbriaphyllia paraancora): Grow in separate skeletal heads or branches. They are more forgiving for beginners, easier to frag, and recover faster from stress.
Wall Hammers (Fimbriaphyllia ancora): Grow on a single, continuous solid skeletal base. They are more sensitive to parameter changes and harder to propagate.
Colors: Available in neon green, gold, orange, purple, bi-color, and splatter morphs.
